Embracing a Collaborative Future
FCCI’s Journey to 2030
Long-range planning is a familiar process for many companies, serving as a roadmap to navigate the future and achieve strategic goals.

President & CEO Cina Welch embraces an inclusive approach to planning. “At FCCI, people are our greatest strength. When we started planning for 2030, I wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to contribute,” Welch shared.
To bring her vision to life, Matt Abernathy, AVP, Regional Operations and Andrea Oustimov, (promoted to AVP, Business Innovation, in 2025), were tasked with designing an approach that would energize the organization over the next five years. This approach was guided by the SOAR framework, which focuses on identifying Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations and Results. This structure shifted the focus from simply planning to actively building it.
A Collaborative Process
“We wanted to bring energy and engagement to the strategic planning process,” Matt explained. “Beginning with collaborative and facilitated conversations, the process encouraged a forward-thinking mindset focused on what we do best.”
As the plan advanced, Andrea highlighted the collaborative spirit of the approach. “Engaging everyone across the company produced powerful results. None of this would have been possible without the contributions of our teammates, leaders and 2030 Vision team leads. Their commitment to excellence made the experience a success."
Impact on Our Customers: Policyholders and Agents
The inclusiveness of the process had a profound impact on FCCI’s ability to serve its primary customers: agents and policyholders. At the heart of the strategy is a dedication to delivering timely, personalized service.

“The ideas and feedback generated through this journey were heavily focused on meeting customer needs, enhancing stability and innovating our services,” Matt said.
Andrea echoed this sentiment, “It was clear as we gathered feedback that our teammates are deeply passionate about building relationships and providing personalized service.”

The 2030 Vision marks a bold new chapter, uniting the FCCI team with a strategy designed to navigate the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.
“This isn’t just a roadmap – it’s a journey we’re embarking on together,” Andrea said. “The passion our teammates have shown for FCCI’s future has been truly energizing.”
Matt added, “With our team’s support, we’re confident we can tackle challenges, seize opportunities, boost efficiencies and reach our goals to meet our customers’ needs.”
